Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates (PPPA)

About Us

Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC (PP PA PAC) is the independent, non-partisan, political arm of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates. PP PA PAC is funded solely by private contributions, with the explicit purpose to elect pro-choice and pro-family planning state level candidates to office. PP PA PAC also encourages supporters of all parties to become involved in the political process through the funding of on the ground field activities to benefit endorsed candidates.

Planned Parenthood Legislative Victories in 2008

Our Successes in 2008:
Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC (PP PA PAC) executed an extremely effective field plan across Pennsylvania in 2008, and we have the results to show for it! Thanks to all of our staff and volunteers for their tremendous efforts!  PP PA PAC supports pro-choice candidates on the state level, and worked in tandem with efforts on the federal level by Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates to ensure that all 21 of Pennsylvania’s electoral votes went to Barack Obama!  Below are some numbers that are a great snapshot of our incredible accomplishments, including the legislators we helped to bring to Harrisburg this election cycle:

The Numbers Speak for Themselves!

15,041: volunteer phone contacts with voters

2,362: volunteer hours spent going door to door

Planned Parenthood Legislative Victories in 2008

House District 13: Tom Houghton
This was a narrow victory in a seat held by an anti-choice representative for decades. Tom will be a fantastic ally in Harrisburg!
House District 33: Frank Dermody
This is the second election cycle we worked on behalf of Rep. Dermody’s re-election bid, and we are thrilled he will continue to be an advocate for women’s health in the leadership of the Democratic Caucus.
House District 70: Matt Bradford
Matt defeated anti-choice incumbent Jay Moyer and we are thrilled to have been a part of this important victory.
House District 151: Rick Taylor
Rick won his first re-election bid by a very narrow margin. He faced a strong challenger but was ultimately successful through a determined canvass operation and the support of Planned Parenthood.
House District 156: Barb McIlvaine-Smith
Barb won her first re-election bid against a strong anti-choice challenger and will continue to be a great advocate for women’s health in Harrisburg.
House District 157: Paul Drucker
Paul narrowly won election to the seat of retiring pro-choice republican Carole Rubley. Guy Ciarrochi was Paul’s staunchly anti-choice opponent and the former public policy director for the Archdiocese of Southeast PA – so we could not be more pleased with this outcome.
